Etched City crack doujinshi - 01.01
Wednesday, February 14th, 2007 at 7:58 pmHere’s page 1 of my very first ever comic, the first of a planned series which will seek to redress the apparent heteronormativity of The Etched City. Drawn on poor quality paper with a cheap biro and marker. Coloured and fiddled with in Photoshop. I’ll try to post a page a week.
Thanks to Jenna for suggesting the theme of Beth picking up girls and drawing pictures of them, and to Laurie for making me think daily ever more about the gay, and to Ross E. Lockhart for his review which reminded me of my concerns about the lack of gay sex and gayness in general in the book.
Warnings for bad/inconsistent drawing, silliness, and of course smut. Oh, and it’s a big picture, sorry - it was too hard to read when it was smaller.

I’m pretty sure that is a requirement for it to be a mythical city.
There is a standard checklist for this sort of thing:
- Old looking buildings with spires, the more spires the better
- Dark Alleys
- An abundance of Gothic style churches
- Lesbian bar

Laurie - Raule drew herself that way, I swear. I don’t think Gwynn is going to look evil at all, he’s mostly a bewildered victim in this story =)
Jenna - your hair colour must have psychically communicated itself to me, ’cause I’ve always thought of Beth’s hair as darker red, but it insisted on being exactly that shade ^^
Scott - and on the evening of the seventh day, when God wanted to watch something arousing and there was no porn channel yet, he said, “Let there be lesbians!” I promise there will be lesbians. Probably on p.3

the various ways one might go about making their own two headed fetus jars are probably not things I am very apt to experience. Besides, I would like my two headed fetus in a jar to be in a jar full of yellow bubbling liquid, and, on somewhat random intervals, to blink. I have high standards in personal ownership of two headed fetuses in jars.

Sabina - there’s going to be more fetus; it has big dreams.
Jenna - knowing me, it’ll be several different shades of red. (Consistency? What’s that…?)
Dave - it’s now in yellow liquid, which may bubble in the future. I shall consider the possibility of a flashing gif, though as a rule I find them evil.
