It is intersting I get the impression of pirde from this drawing, but the bird isn’t one of those ones I normally think of with ideas of pride.
It probably has something to do with the neck ruffle, hat and lack of facial features that brings it across so strongly.

It reminds me of a Hieronymus creature, somehow! And I agree with Eric, it looks very prideful.

It does look rather full of pride, doesn’t it? The bauta is a proud-looking mask. I’m always amazed at how much expression artists of the masked period in Venice were able to give their figures.

although if the image had a human shaped body it would lend its self to a knuckle dragging form
