At least it's a cool (har har) way to attempt self-rescue, rather than just another bunch of Italian designer outlets. Rink etymology. I never thought about that before!

I guess Siam Discovery is trying to save itself, existing next to Paragon and all. A skating rink with trapdoors would definitely win me over. By the way, what the hell is a “rink?” Do you think it’s a bastardization of “ring?”

Ohh, blisters. I was pretty good at getting them, too. Maybe my skates were too big!

Oh ice skating. I hail from a frosty climb (in my opinion semi-polar) and ice skating was something I did a fair bit of as a kid, though I’ve never been super good at it. Mostly I just went in circles continuously, gradually gaining speed till I lost control and hit a wall.

The only ice skating injury I’ve ever had (aside from bruised pride) was a nasty, nasty blister. That was when I found out that your skates must fit tightly or you will pay tremenously.

Interestingly enough, my college has been trying to have an ice rink since the beginning of January, but an inopportune rise in temperature turned it into an ankle deep pool.

Tori — Siam Discovery! I saw the one outside Central World, but I didn’t go to it… I found more info, apparently the new one’s going to be Olympic size. And there’s going to be a Madame Tussaud’s in the same redevelopment.

Laurie — it’s actually hard to get injured just skating around (though unfortunately it’s easy to be an entertaining spectacle!), but with your spine I don’t know if there would be extra risks. I once fell on my butt and had paralysed legs for a couple of hours.

I have never been ice skating in my whole life. Considering my physical prowess, I imagine the scene might be highly entertaining, but any onlookers would be almost as likely to incur grievous injury as I would.

Wow! Which mall? There was a fun little ‘outdoors’ (actually in-a-tent) ice rink outside Central World over the holidays but I think it’s gone now. This sounds promising!
