Ye finished version. The knight was tricky — hope she came out ok.

Love the way they look like their sharing a private joke.

To be totally honest there’s something not quite right about the side of the knight’s face. She’s still adorable though!

The knight’s face and the dragon’s nostrils — an evil mage threw a ’skew perspective’ spell at them!

  3. Colin Says:

It’s clear to see that the dragon is old and battle hardend, The girl is the generational spawn of the dragon’s keepers and riders. So there are plenty of in jokes there

I like it. It’s definitely cute picture :-)

Nawww at the knight’s pose. The little oddities like the dragon’s nostril are adorable. I’d like to knit the dragon some goggles

  6. kjbishop Says:

Colin – An heirloom dragon? I suppose the eldest child gets the estate, the middle one gets the art collection and the jewels, and the youngest gets Old Scaly — and raids back the estate and art and jewels!

Dominik – It could be the start of a cute phase, who knows? ;-)

Michael – Ah, if only someone had knitted goggles for dragons when the ice age came, they wouldn’t have gone extinct.

Your dragon has the look of a trickster grown old and perhaps minus a few of the brain cells he had when younger. He is not so old as to have forgotten how to be sly and mischievous, but he may have lost the ability to hide his “benevolent” (Emera’s apt description) wickedness in the expression on his face.

The little Knight is an afterthought as with all things standing next to dragons. For one’s continued health, one must always notice a dragon first when there is a dragon and usually there’s no time to notice other things as you’re running in the opposite direction, yelling “DRAGON” at the top of your lungs.

    But in seriousness, lovely drawing.

I adore the dragon’s ‘HELLO THAR’ expression.

  9. kjbishop Says:

Jason – Time does seem to have worn a few but not all of his corners off. And indeed, there’s not much point worrying how you look when you’re standing next to a dragon. Liberating, really! (ETA: I’ve got photos of myself with a tiger – very much the same situation!)

Steampunkgunslinger – his ‘HELLO THAR’ expression is much nicer than his ‘GOODBYE’ expression ;-)

  10. Jason S Says:

    Tiger!?!

That sounds very cool and totally worth the risk of life and limb. My only question is why aren’t these photographs plastered everywhere, informing people of your tiger whispering ability and general awesomeness?

  11. kjbishop Says:

Tame tigers! As tame as tigers get, I guess. And chained, too. But the experience was still pretty amazing. Photos not plastered because photos of tigers look better without random monkey-folk cluttering up the picture.

    Great drawing.

The dragon’s nice but “The Etched City” left me longing for your next ‘fantasy’ novel. Hope it’s going to appear soon ;)

  14. kjbishop Says:

Jeff – Thanks for dropping by. Glad you like this odd couple!

Gav – I think I’m going to make “Always keep ‘em wanting more” my personal motto. That way I can say I’m slow for deliberate reasons, not just because writing is hard… :-)
