I’ve settled on a colour/texture/font scheme:

with the layout basically like this (the new Kindle format is narrow):

If I include the scarf on the green/peach one I think it will be quite diaphanous with a few roses.
This was another look I tried –

– but I prefer the coloured background and fancier font. So I’ll see what I can do on that next week.
Also, Pan is really ready this time – collecting him Sunday.
ETA: Hmm, the more I look at the blue/yellow scheme the more I like it. The green one is very retro, but the yellow one is a mix of retro and modern that’s probably more in keeping with the stories.
ETA2: Yeah, the yellow one. Why is it so hard to decide on things?
These look great! The yellow one immediately struck me, though. I like it the best.
The cover is looking good. I have to say, the Pan news is what I wanted to hear, though. Pan!!!
Eedamme – I’m sticking with the yellow!
Gillian – Pan looks pretty good. Wait till you hear what happened, though…
Pan had adventures?
Of the falling over under his own weight and breaking into 5 pieces kind. Luckily there’s still the mould, and a resin backup model, and I think I can glue the wax model back together and repair the damage, which was surprisingly slight and not in prominent places. My fault — I should have thought of how the wax might fare in the warm room.
My goodness! I’m relieved you recovered him!
Fortunately the bits fell in the best possible way — the (slight) damage is to the back of his head, the back of the rock, and a bit of fetlock. No face or hand damage.
I like the yellow best. I prefer the first layout, but I would right adjust the lettering so that the ends of the words line up vertically. Then the A in ancestor would, hopefully, not be obscured by the head of the figure (the lettering size might have to be slightly smaller). Having the lettering above and below the illustration makes the lettering look as though it was a cut and paste job.
I didn’t mean to leave the A behind the figure — I was just lazy and didn’t fix it in the picture
Glad you like the yellow — that’s the one I went for in the end, as it was easier to make the title stand out over the blue matter in the background, but I’ll try your suggestion of right-aligning the text.
