This is the resin model — backup in case something happens to the mould — sans pipes, which will be attached later. There’s a wax model from the same mould that I need to clean up (and stick back together — it fell over and turned itself into a proper ruined statue! Only a few pieces, though –) for the casting.
More pics on the sculpture page. I’m thinking a lightish patina, or if it can be done, a light green/white shading to a slightly darker green on the legs. I might get it cast in bronze resin for the sake of price and weight — not sure yet.

Hello,
This is the best Pan sculpture I’ve seen to date.
Are you planning to make any for sale in bronze?
If so in what size and how much?
Regards
Peter
Thank you!
It’s about 43 cm high, and will be for sale by order. At a guesstimate, the bronze will be around $1500, plus postage.
Pan!
I need to earn much, much money and order him. This may take a few years.
I will be looking into the bronze resin option. Looks like it can be patinated like real bronze. Much cheaper, and won’t weigh 10kg.
The fluid body language you have captured in your rendition of Pan is remarkable. 10kg seems rather heavy for a sculpture only 43cm high and the bronze looks bigger are you sure its not closer to 50cm?. I’m assuming that this is based on solid bronze. I imagine casting a bronze like this with ‘so much going on’ is not easy.
No resin for me thanks. What is your turn around time to make the metal bronze version and what are your terms and conditions of payment?
Regards
Peter
Yes you are a skilled artisan to have breathed life into this inspired creation of Pan.
indeed he is a work of ethereal beauty. The poise and articulation of his hands is uncanny and the deep sensitivity and love of the music he plays is succinctly captured in the tranceful expressivseness of his face. I watch his flowing bodylines as he gracefully dances his raptuous dance and I can almost hear the dreamlike music flowing from his hands and wafting through the Grecian woods. Inviting, hypnotic, intoxicating. Of another world and yet he seems so real that I half expect to see him materialise before me. Hhhmmm. Speaking of which I would like to see him materialise before me, in bronze not resin.
Thank you very much, Peter, I’m quite humbled. I’m sure there’s some Thai inspiration in him. There’s exquisite sculpture here — it certainly gives one something to aspire to!
Dear Mr. Bishop,
the sculpture of Pan is truly beautiful. I would like one for my altar but can’t afford the bronze one. Have you some available in broze resin and if so could you please advise cost and p&p? I live in the UK.
Yours sincerely Petra (Black) 93s
Thanks for the inquiry, Petra. Regrettably, bronze resin isn’t going to be a feasible option, due to the fragility of the supporting leg. I’m considering doing a piece in a similar style but different pose that could be cast in resin or aluminium (a lighter and cheaper option than bronze). If that would potentially interest you I can let you know when the model is made.
