Sore arm

Apologies to people who are reading the online story. I’ve hurt my right arm and need to rest it, so there won’t be an update this week. I think I hurt it working on Pan a few months ago, and the combo of sculpture plus typing, and not doing enough tai chi, hasn’t been kind to it. I thought the standing desk had fixed the problem, but it didn’t. I need to deal with this now before it gets worse — and not overuse my left hand in compensation. So I’ll only be doing essential typing for a few days (still some Mad Ancestor formatting to do) and will be lolling around reading a lot!

  1. Kristen,

Unless you’re on a strange beast of a computer, you should try dictation. It’s surprisingly good and frustrating all at once. On the Mac, it’s hidden in the Dictation and Speech control panel. Dictation works really well as long as you don’t have a strong Australian accent or a really noisy environment. On Windows, it’s called Speech Recognition. Just type speech in the control panel and find it.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    • Thanks for the tip! I think I’ll have to install it on my quaint old version of Windows. I don’t know if I could dictate fiction writing — though I’m game to give it a go — but I’m sure I could dictate blog posts and emails.
