I really don’t know whether the eyes work or not. He’s like a totally different guy when he has them. The coat fabric is a colour-altered version of an 1860s design (for carpet? wallpaper?) by Woolams & Co. And in case you’re wondering, that isn’t a giant tampon string. I promise.

Ecchi no City – info

What is Ecchi no City? Many moons ago, Ross E. Lockhart wrote a review of The Etched City in which he noted in passing that the book is rather heteronormative for a novel that nods in the direction of Decadence. There are reasons why it’s heteronormative, but they’re boring (basically, none of the characters wanted to be explicitly gay or bi). Possibly less boring, maybe, is Ecchi no City, a doujinshi I started writing in response to Mr Lockheart’s comment. “Ecchi” is a Japanese word meaning sexy, smutty or mildly perverted. “Ecchi no City” = “City of Ecchi”. This dubious project is probably best described as a parodic re-imagining of the romance plot of The Etched City by the part of my mind that never left the back of Year 8 math class. The artwork is inconsistent (though consistently bad!), and the content is puerile.

For anyone who doesn’t know about chibis, the only juvenile character is the fetus. Gwynn is in fact a swank bishounen, and Beth doesn’t really have cat ears. At present the level of smut is very mild, but that may change if I feel inspired in a pornographic direction.

If you’ve read The Etched City, enjoyed it, and you don’t like AU parodies where characters act OOC and end up in unlikely sexual situations, you probably won’t like this doujinshi!

Ecchi no City doesn’t make sense, but a passing familiarity with Bancoran, Takarazuka, A Clockwork Orange, Are You Being Served?, and Day of the Tentacle, might help clarify some of the nonsense.

The continuing story… thanks to Liminal Icons for the “Gentlemen” sign Nothing here that you couldn’t show to the Pope, so it can be proudly(?) public.

I’ve just found out how to password protect a post. The older I get, the steeper the learning curves get… Having looked at mailing list options, I think password protection for future doujinshi posts would be a better idea than a mailing list. I’ll email the password to people who asked to be on the list.

I seem to have nearly finished scribbling another page of Ecchi no City while I should have been doing other things. I’ve decided not to post any more pages online, but I’m wondering if anyone would be interested in receiving new pages in the mail. I’m not expecting floods of replies here, but if some (or even 2) of you are interested, I’ll make a mailing list (addresses invisible, natch). Since this would be off the web, content might be more risque than what was posted online, so please don’t ask to sign up if you’re a minor* (obviously) or likely to be offended by badly drawn, immature, dumb pictures of adults doing adult things, or if you’re afraid of or revolted by pickled fetuses with minds of their own. Any interested parties, please mail me at the usual address or leave a note here.

*I will be erring on the side of caution if I don’t know you

**EDIT: okay, belay that about more risque. It won’t be. A while ago, this country I live in made illegal the circulating of pornography via email. If I read about this at the time, I had obviously forgotten it. For all I know, naughty cartoons count as porn here. (Yes, I’m sliding into paranoia about Big Brother, and yes, it’s embarrassing. I might post about it sometime if I can sort out what’s going on in my head.)
So, no very naughty bits. But loads of retardry, I promise. That, at least, is legal here…
